PJW 2019 ELECTION: PORTLAND JR. WINTERHAWKS VICE PRESIDENT

Job Description:  PJW Vice President 
Term: May 1, 2019 - April 30, 2022

The Vice President shall discharge the duties of the President during his or her absence or disability, and shall perform other duties as assigned by the President. The Vice President provides leadership for hockey program operations including but not limited to Metro, Varsity, Tier programs/teams, player development, implementation of USA Hockey curriculum, and other duties as agreed upon by the Board of Directors.

 Duties may be assigned, as determined by the Board, including but not limited to:

  • External communications 
  • Preparation and distribution of PJW Membership Newsletter
  • Preparation of annual general meeting
  • Website management 
  • Attend OHSA events as required
  • Attend monthly Board meetings 
  • Attend games and practices (all levels)
  • Manage/Organize (as Primary Lead) USA Hockey Annual Try Hockey for Free Day 
  • Shall serve as the primary point of contact, and shall work collaboratively with, Scheduler, Tier Director, Metro Director, WHVL  Director, Culture & Community Committee and Girls Hockey Committee

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Annual Safe Sport Training & Annual Background Check
Accomplished leader in business or non-profit sector
Time commitment varies, however, up to 35 hours per week, (January – December)

Preferred Skills
Member of PJW, in good standing, for a minimum of 3 years
Excellent verbal and writing skills
Familiarity with PJW Bylaws & USA Hockey Rules/Regulations
Credentialed Coach Minimum Level 3 Coaching Certificate
Intermediate Computer skills
Prior experience on non-profit board helpful, but not required
Familiarity with PJW Bylaws & USA Hockey Rules/Regulations
Familiarity with Roberts Rules of Order
